About us
At Verdearia, we believe buying artificial grass shouldn't mean choosing between a pretty photo and a price per square metre.
You should be able to understand what you're buying, compare models and know which one makes sense for your space. That's why we do things differently.

The origin
Why is it so difficult to choose artificial grass?
When we started looking at the market from the outside, with the mindset of a buyer rather than a seller, the answer appeared straight away: it's not that information is missing, it's that what exists isn't presented in a way that lets you decide with it.
Pile height, density, weight, stitches, fibre type, colour, drainage, UV protection, guarantee and recommended use. Ten pieces of data that need to be cross-checked against each other to know if a model fits, and that rarely appear together.
Every shop publishes the figures that favour it, with different units and missing the ones that don't. Putting two models side by side turns into a research project.
A 20 mm grass and a 40 mm grass look very similar in a well-lit overhead photo. What sets them apart —how the fibre stands up, how the colour behaves, how it sounds underfoot— doesn't fit into a single image.
Grass is sold by the square metre and cut from a roll of fixed width. Measuring wrong is the most expensive mistake in the whole purchase, and it's almost never flagged.
That's where Verdearia comes from. Not as a shop set on pushing the most expensive model, but as a brand that wants you to understand what you're buying and choose the product that truly fits your project.

Who's behind it
Verdearia is run by Ricardo and Iván Bueno, father and son, with experience in the construction sector.
We come from a world where materials matter. Where a decision that seems small —what base goes underneath, what withstands the August sun, how the water drains away— determines the final result of a project.
That way of looking at products is what we've brought here.
Less marketing. More judgement.

The Verdearia method
Seven steps between a model reaching our hands and appearing published. None of them includes a laboratory test: we don't run them, and saying otherwise would be the first false claim on this page.
We read a model's spec sheet before its photo. Pile height, density, weight, fibre type and backing: what defines the product is there, not in the catalogue render.
We put the models side by side with the same data and the same units: pile height in millimetres, density in stitches per m², total weight in g/m², drainage, UV protection and years of guarantee. Two spec sheets that look the same are almost never actually the same.
We ask for a physical sample of whatever we're assessing. It's looked at different times of day, walked on, bent and stroked against the grain. Real texture and sheen can't be photographed.
A balcony doesn't need the same as a garden, and a pool surround doesn't need the same as a play area. Before entering the range, a model has to clearly serve a specific purpose.
We aim to cover different needs, styles and budgets, from the most affordable option to the top of the range. What we don't do is repeat three near-identical models to make the range look bigger.
We publish the full spec sheet, with the units and what each figure means. When a value isn't available, that row doesn't appear: we'd rather leave a gap than make a claim nobody has checked.
If you're torn between two models, write to us and we'll tell you which one makes sense for your project. Sometimes the answer is that the more expensive one won't get you anything extra in your case.

Choosing well over selling more
We don't want to sell you the most expensive grass.
Six square metres that get walked on when you go out to hang the washing call for a fibre that recovers from footfall, not the tallest one in the range.
Around the water, quick drying and how it feels underfoot barefoot come first. On a terrace viewed from the living room, what matters most is how the colour looks in the late afternoon.
Some projects justify higher-end performance, and some work perfectly well with a more affordable alternative. Telling you which is which is part of the job.
Our job doesn't end when you choose the most expensive model.
It ends when you understand why that model is the right one for your project.
Where we come from
Before Verdearia, we already knew something important: a material isn't chosen purely on how it looks.
You need to understand where it's going to be used, what conditions it will have to withstand and what result is expected of it. That mindset is behind our selection of artificial grass.
Where it's going to be laid and on what base.
What conditions it will have to withstand: sun, water, footfall, chlorine, claws.
What result is expected of it five years from now, not on delivery day.

What to look for in a spec sheet
Ten concepts explain almost the whole difference between two models and almost the whole price difference. Here they are, with what each one means.

Where we are
Verdearia is based in Blanes, Girona, right on the Costa Brava.
Working in the Mediterranean makes us especially aware of the conditions an outdoor space faces here: direct sun for many hours a day, heat building up on hard flooring, rain concentrated into a handful of days a year, very exposed terraces and pools used for five months in a row.
That shapes what we recommend. On the Catalan coast, we scrutinise protection against solar radiation and prefer olive-toned greens, which age better in full sun than highly saturated greens.

The ranges
The range is organised into tiers so that the price difference can be explained. None of them is a reject: each answers a different type of project.
When it's looked at closely every day
Top-of-the-range fibres with better recovery underfoot, more believable colour blends and longer guarantees. The difference shows from a metre away and after five years.
The top of the range
Maximum density and the most realistic finish we work with, for projects where the grass is the star of the show.
The top of the range is what we take the most care over, but moving up a tier only pays off when the project justifies it. View the premium selection or start with the most affordable options.
Applications
We're interested in how the models perform in real spaces: how an edge is finished, how the light falls on the fibre in the late afternoon, what a surface walked on every day needs and what one that's barely walked on needs.
Examples of real-life artificial grass applications. Verdearia sells the material cut to size and advises on which model to choose; installation is carried out by specialist companies or by customers themselves, so these images illustrate uses of the product rather than work carried out by us.

Transparency
We believe an artificial grass shop should provide enough information to make a decision. We work with spec sheets, physical samples and product specifications so you can compare before you buy.
And when a figure isn't available or we can't verify it, we'd rather say so than fill a spec sheet with doubtful information. It costs an empty row and saves a return.
Pile height, density, weight, drainage, guarantee and recommended use for each model, with their units. These are the figures that let you truly compare.
Compare modelsIf the manufacturer doesn't declare a feature, that row disappears from the spec sheet instead of being published as unmet. Nobody has measured it, so nobody can claim it.
View a spec sheetIn the completed projects section, the entries used as examples of the format are flagged as such and are kept out of search engines while they remain so.

About Verdearia
What we're usually asked about the company. If your question is about the product, you'll find the answers in the frequently asked questions about artificial grass.
Verdearia is a Spanish online shop specialising in artificial grass and the material needed to install it. It's a family business, founded by Ricardo and Iván Bueno, which sells the product by the square metre with cut-to-size service and advises on which model fits each project. It doesn't sell any other product category.
The brand is based in Blanes, Girona, on the Costa Brava. It's an online shop: there's no physical shop to visit, and the Mediterranean connection matters mainly because it shapes what we recommend —many hours of direct sun, concentrated rainfall and very exposed terraces—.
In Spain and Portugal. Standard delivery covers mainland Spain and mainland Portugal; the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla are quoted separately because transporting a roll there doesn't have a flat rate.
Decorative artificial grass for gardens, terraces, balconies, pool surrounds, pet areas and play areas, plus installation accessories: weed control fabric, joining tape, adhesive and tools. The published range brings together 8 items.
Yes. The range is organised into tiers —basic, standard, premium and elite— and the top of the range is what we take the most care over: higher density, more believable colour blends, better fibre recovery underfoot and longer guarantees. Right now there are 5 models in the premium tier or above.
By comparing spec sheets using the same units —pile height, density in stitches per m², weight, drainage, UV protection and guarantee—, requesting a physical sample of anything we're assessing, and ruling out anything that clearly doesn't suit a specific use. We don't run laboratory tests or publish our own measurements: what we do is read, compare and handle the material ourselves.
Yes, and it's half the job. You can write to us with the area's measurements, the intended use and a photo of the site, and we'll tell you which model makes sense. If the most expensive one won't get you anything extra in your case, we'll say that too.
Yes. Grass is sold by the square metre and cut from rolls of fixed width, so you pay for the metres you need rather than a whole roll. The calculator adds up your areas, includes the recommended allowance for cuts and joins, and tells you the exact quantity to order.
Yes. You can order up to 3 10 × 15 cm samples at no cost and with no obligation to buy. It's the only way to judge the real colour and feel: no screen reproduces the exact green that will arrive at your home.
No. Verdearia sells the material cut to size and advises on which model to choose; installation is carried out by specialist companies or by customers themselves. We publish a step-by-step installation guide for anyone who wants to do it themselves, and the completed projects section documents work carried out with this type of material.
